Knox Realty, Inc. is a full-service, locally owned real estate company that has been operating in the Lake Norman, northern Mecklenburg, and Iredell areas since 1973.  It is a company committed to maintaining and supporting the lifestyle enjoyed in these areas.
This area of North Carolina is rich in history. In 1835 the Concord Presbytery led the efforts to establish an institution of higher education in the area which eventually gave rise to Davidson college, named for Gen. William Davidson. Classes began at Davidson in 1837 with 66 students and the town of Davidson, which grew along with the college, was incorporated in 1891. Today the town population is nearly 5000, including students.
Nearby Mooresville started out as a depot for the Atlantic, Tennessee, and Ohio Railroad. John Franklin Moore offered an acre of land to the AT&O, then in 1873 applied for and received a town charter. The population at the time was 25. Today, commercial agriculture and the textile industry, as well as the nearby lake and the NASCAR track, the Lowes Motor Speedway, have contributed to the expansion of Mooresville to its current 13,000 residents.
The lake itself is located about 25 miles north of Charlotte. It was the brainchild of James Buchannon Duke, the founder of Duke Power Company, who first realized the power potential of the Catawba river. Upon its completion in 1963, the lake was named in honor of Norman Cocke, then the president of the company. Today, the lake is home to numerous parks, golf courses and beautiful home sites and offers facilities for fishing, boating, swimming and other recreational activities.
